In lesson 7 of the Total Transformation Program, James Lehman points out how to avoid a bad situation from happening or how to refrain a situation from worsening.
James, Behavioral Therapist and creator of the program doesn’t believe in anger management. He doesn’t debate with it but his opinion on anger management is really what is known as Trigger Management. If you have an oppositional defiant disorder, ADD/ADHD, disrespectful, lying, anger, abusive kid at home, trigger management is critical because overwhelming emotions can be the root of all problems. Kids can show anger, fear of loss, separation, injustice, anxiety and so on in response to triggers.
If another kid call yours a bully, pain in the neck or loser, tell your kid there’s nothing he can really do to stop the piss. What he can do is to control his feeling and emotions and not to mess up with him. If he make the matter bigger, he only have himself to blame.
Kids do not have skills to sooth themselves. Kids have kids ability and adult have theirs. They are incapable of managing that overwhelming emotions like an adult and therefore we as parents have to help them in thoughts management and how to stop something from happening before it starts.
